About Gor Mahia

Gor Mahia is arguably the most successful football club in Kenya. It has won all major trophies in Kenya including the Kenya Premier League.

At the moment, Gor Mahia are the current reigning KPL champions of 2023.

Gor Mahia’s home stadium is Nairobi City Stadium. The stadium is located along Jogoo Road and has a seating capacity of more than 15,000 spectators.

I believe Nairobi City Stadium is among the best stadiums in Kenya. It is well maintained, clean and the grass is well trimmed.

Another good thing about City Stadium is that has floodlights which make it possible for games to be played at night.

Last but not least, City Stadium is one of the best stadiums in Kenya because it has modern amenities including concession stands, restrooms, VIP boxes, and hospitality suites.

The main coach of Gor Mahia is Johnathan McKinstry. He is a Northern Irish football manager who has previously headed big international teams such as Uganda, Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

At the moment, this lad is 38 years old. I believe he is one of the best coaches in Kenya because he has a win rate of over 51%.

KPL Title

Gor Mahia has won the Kenya Premier League title a total of 20 times. This is by far the highest number any Kenyan Club has ever won it.

The latest win by Gor Mahia is in 2023. According to the latest table rankings, the club is still expected to win the 2024 Kenya Premier League.

FKF President’s Cup

Gor Mahia have won the president’s cup 11 times. Amazing, right ?

The FKF cup is the Kenyan equivalent of the FA cup. It was started in the 1950s and has had different names ever since.

The Winner of the FKF cup normally gets a chance to represent Kenya in the CAF Confederation cup (Confederation of African Football)

CAF Champions League

Gor Mahia has managed to win the CAF champions League or the CAF confederation cup only once. They did this in the year 1987.

To this date, they are the only club in Kenya’s history that have ever managed to win the title.

At the moment the club is banned from participating in the CAF confederation Cup because it of the curse of foreign players.

The club failed to pay the allowance of three former players from Mali, DRC and Congo. This act made the management of CAF to revoke the clubs licensing certificate.

It is our hope (Zunguka Safaris) that Gor Mahia gets back its certificates and the wages of these three international players are settled.
