Edwin Sifuna, Moses Kuria React after Missing On State Honours List

Edwin Sifuna, Nairobi senator and Public Service Cabinet Secretary (CS) Moses Kuria have reacted after missing out on President William Ruto’s list of those conferred with State awards and honors.

The CSs include; Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary (CS) Davis Chirchir Soipan Tuya (Environment), Peninah Malonza (EAC), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Eliud Owalo (ICT), Zachariah Njeru (Water), Rebecca Miano (Trade), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture) and Health Minister Susan Nakhumicha.

Sifuna was nominated for the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (CBS) award.

In a statement shared via his official X account, Sifuna claimed that the president intentionally denied him the award despite being nominated.

He, however, stated that he respected Ruto’s decision and thanked the parliament for nominating him.

“I respect Ruto’s decision denying me the national honors I had been nominated for. I always suspected the disdain was mutual 😂😂😂. I thank Parliament for the nomination though. And to all those who made it to the list, congratulations! Happy #JamhuriDay,” he wrote.

CS Kuria on the other hand reacted with an image of the gazette notice with the list of the awardees and a photo alleging image illustrating the involvement of the Office of the Deputy President in the selection process for individuals conferred with national honors.

The National and County Government Honours Advisory Committee is a key office under the Office of the DP Gachagua.

“We shall be there no matter what,” Kuria captioned the two photographs

Netizens did not seize to give their opinions on this matter many saying that the awardees deserved the awards hence Sifuna and Moses Kuria should wait for their time.

@abuga_makori on X, “To Sifuna and Moses Kuria, your day will definitely come for National honors, don’t make this a crisis. Nonetheless, there is need for radical surgery in National Honours Committee. Can still detect many clowns in the noble list who shouldn’t have been awarded anything.”
