Chebukati urges Kenyans to register as voters before the exercise closes in 5 days.

Have you registered as a voter? You have 5 days till the registration exercise closes.

The registration exercise begun on 17,January 2022 will end on 6 February 2022.

Speaking during His inspection tour in Garissa County ,The Independent and Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chair Wafula Chebukati urged Kenyans to take advantage of the few day left to register.

He said so far the commission had registered a paltry 500,000 eligible voters countrywide adding that majority were captured in the last one week.

“We are very far away from the national target. I know it is an uphill task but let’s cross the bridge when we reach there. It’s not too late, we still have one week. If Kenyans can come out in their numbers, we shall be able to serve them. Let us be hopeful,” Chebukati said.

“Mine is to appeal to Kenyans across the country to please take advantage of this last week to register so that you can be able to elect leaders of your choice.”,Chebukati said.

The IEBC Chair ruled out any extension saying this is the final phase in preparation for general election that will be in August,9th.

Chebukati lauded Garissa resident for coming to register as voters reveling they are the leading county with8,736 against a target of 24,000 voters.

“I want to confirm it here Garissa is doing very well as against other counties .We hope that by the end of the exercise many more with ID cards will have registered. “he added.
