Kelvin Kiptum fitted the Mashujaa Day among 157

The 23 year old Kelvin Kiptum,is a Kenyan who spoke when he was presented with the princess of Asturias Award for sports in Spain.Princess of awards formally the prince of Asturias Awards from 1981 ,to 2014 have got an annual prizes award in Spainby the princess foundation to individual entities or organization from around the world who makes notable archievement.

Kelvin Kiptum who is a young starwas competing in a marathon for the third time where he crushed Kipchoges previous world record of 2:01:09 set in Berlin marathon on September,25,2023.

The first time a world record was being set in Chicago since Moroccan Khalid Khannoushe’s exploits of 2:05:42 on October 25,1999.

Kipchoges made history as the first man to run a marathon under two hours and two minutes when he shattered compatriot Dennis Kimettos world record of 2:02:57 set in 2014 in Berlin in a new time 2:01:39 in 2018. Kipchoge would better it last year by 30 sec before kelvin became the first man to run marathon under two hours one minute beating Kipchoge time by 34 seconds.

The 23 who is the newly crowned world marathon record holder and double Olympic champion faith Kipyegon have been listed among 157 Mashujaa Day heroes and heroiness of year 2023.

Kipyegon and Kelvin made the list of 14 sports man and woman recognized during this year 60 th Mashujaa Day celebration held in Kericho county on Friday.

Faith Kipyegon worn a Gold medal in 1500 m during 2017, 2022 and 2023 world athletic championship and clinched Gold in 500 metres at the 2023 world athletic companion in Budapest, Hungary.

Kiptum on his part brokethe marathon record as the only person in the history to run the distance under two hours and one minute in such race.

In the sports docket, Rosemary Wanjiru who won the Tokyo Marathon 2013, Emmanuel Wanyonyi who won a Gold medal at the 2021 world 29 championship and John Kipkoech who broke the world 300m steeple Chase record in the 1994 common wealth games held in Victoria,Canada made it to the list.

Other notable names that were identified were Japheth Musyoki the co-founder of sports for all persons with disabilities who won a Gold medal in short put and silver in discuss.

Wafula Raymond was also recognized for his contribution to the film industry in the arts category together with veterans broadcaster Khadisa Aling among many other.


Some of the struggle liberator’s mentioned in the 2023 list includes: Igoki Teresia Kiambu (Meru),Mulwa Muindi from Machakos,Miruri Joseph Njuguna from Muranga, Macharia Wilson Maina from Muranga, Nelly Wanjiru Kanyari and Joseph wangai from Kiambu  Others include the following: Kalondu Matheka Mbali from Makueni county,Real Kavenia Mutinda from Machakos county, Mbari Joseph Waweru from Kiambu county,Olgo Paul Angwech from Kisumu county and Oyukob Phoebe Ambiyi from Kisumu county.

All received their names as listed and celebrated on the 60th Mashujaa Day that shows hoe respectable they are in doing things that boost memory rather than things that destroy one intense . In athletic the competition are always stiff and one is needed to put more effort in order to emerge a winner in this races.

Athletic are supposed to avoid doping because it is harmful.
