The 23 who is the newly crowned world marathon record holder and double Olympic champion faith Kipyegon have been listed among 157 Mashujaa Day heroes and heroiness of year 2023.
Kipyegon and Kelvin made the list of 14 sports man and woman recognized during this year 60 th Mashujaa Day celebration held in Kericho county on Friday.
Faith Kipyegon worn a Gold medal in 1500 m during 2017, 2022 and 2023 world athletic championship and clinched Gold in 500 metres at the 2023 world athletic companion in Budapest, Hungary.
Kiptum on his part brokethe marathon record as the only person in the history to run the distance under two hours and one minute in such race.
In the sports docket, Rosemary Wanjiru who won the Tokyo Marathon 2013, Emmanuel Wanyonyi who won a Gold medal at the 2021 world 29 championship and John Kipkoech who broke the world 300m steeple Chase record in the 1994 common wealth games held in Victoria,Canada made it to the list.
