Ministry of Labor announces new job opportunities at KSA

Ministry of Labor and Social Protection has announced job opportunities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) targeting nurses.

In a statement on Tuesday, January 2, Labor Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime revealed that the job opportunities are a result of the Kenyan government’s collaboration with Saudi Arabia which expressed willingness to recruit more healthcare workers.

“The Government of Kenya is collaborating with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in enhancing safe, regular, and productive labour migration between the two countries.

This initiative has facilitated the employment of thousands of Kenyans in different economic sectors in the KSA and has expressed willingness through various organizations in KSA to recruit additional healthcare workers from Kenya.

“In view of the above, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection requests applications from qualified Kenyans for employment in the KSA as General Nurses and Personal Assistant/Health Care Assistant professionals,” the statement read in part.

To be eligible for the nursing jobs, applicants must be Kenyan citizens, with the opportunities targeting only female applicants.

Furthermore, they must hold a Bachelor of Science Degree /Diploma/Certificate in Nursing, be a registered and licensed member of the Nursing Council of Kenya, and be in good standing as well as have a valid Police Clearance Certificate.

They should also be medically fit, have English proficiency in writing and speaking, be between the ages of 22 and 35, and hold a valid Kenyan passport.

In terms of work experience, nurses with Degree qualifications should have a minimum work experience of two years while nurses with Diploma qualifications should be Fresh graduates with no experience. Nurses with Certificate qualification should have a minimum of one year of continuous work experience

The applicants should also provide valid Prometric results and provide the dataflow verification report for the education certificate and Nursing Council License.

How To Apply

Interested candidates are required to apply for the jobs through the National Employment Authority (NEA) Job Portal; https://www.neaims.go.ke/AdvertListingG2G.aspx or https://www.neaims.go.ke/Login.aspx.

Upon successful applications and interviews, nurses will be given a two-year contract which is renewable and will be required to work eight hours a day.

They will also be provided with a round-trip air ticket as well as overtime in accordance with the Saudi Arabia Labor Laws.

Regarding salary, successful applicants will earn a minimum monthly salary of 3,500.00 SAR (Ksh146,717) for degree holders, 3,000.00 SAR (Ksh125,757) for diploma holders, and 2,200.00 SAR (Ksh92,200) for certificate holders.

On November 19, 2023, President William Ruto disclosed details of his trip to Saudi Arabia where he revealed that he had secured 350,000 job opportunities for Kenyans in the Saudi labor workforce.

“I have agreed with Bore (Labor CS, Florence) that we will sign bilateral labor agreements to export labor from Kenya. We want to export at least 3,000 Kenyans every week to go work worldwide and change their livelihoods and Kenya,” he stated.

“I was in Saudi Arabia last week. My CS was at the Saudi Arabia Embassy as we had agreed. The German (Chancellor) was in Kenya three months ago. I am going to Germany tonight because he (the German President) had promised us 200,000 jobs, so I must go sort it out.”
